Dr. Mercy Deche was born On December 19, 1968 in Kenya. She attended Loreto High School Limuru for Secondary education, she attained her Bachelors in Law at the University of Nairobi and her Master in Law at the University of London- Queen Mary, and later her Doctorate in Law at the University of Nairobi.
Dr. Mercy is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with 27 years of experience in Legal practice and also 10 years’ experience in academia as a Law Lecturer at the University of Nairobi School of Law, Mombasa Campus, Teaching Gender and the Law at both Undergraduate and Post-Graduate Level. She has worked with the Judicial Service Commission as a Commissioner/Vice-Chair and Acting Chair in making policies of the highest level with regard to the Kenyan Judiciary, she has also worked closely with the Judiciary from the bar as a court user where she has chaired various bar/ bench initiatives and from the bench as a member of the HIV and Aids Tribunal.
She was a board member of Federal of Women Lawyers (FIDA-Kenya) where she was involved at the policy level in facilitating access to justice to indigent women through training them to represent themselves in court. She is the founder of Mercy Deche Consultants handling legal matters and consultancy services focusing keenly on advocating for women and children.
